Exodus 2:1–10 CSB
1 Now a man from the family of Levi married a Levite woman. 2 The woman became pregnant and gave birth to a son; when she saw that he was beautiful, she hid him for three months. 3 But when she could no longer hide him, she got a papyrus basket for him and coated it with asphalt and pitch. She placed the child in it and set it among the reeds by the bank of the Nile. 4 Then his sister stood at a distance in order to see what would happen to him. 5 Pharaoh’s daughter went down to bathe at the Nile while her servant girls walked along the riverbank. She saw the basket among the reeds, sent her slave girl, took it, 6 opened it, and saw him, the child—and there he was, a little boy, crying. She felt sorry for him and said, “This is one of the Hebrew boys.” 7 Then his sister said to Pharaoh’s daughter, “Should I go and call a Hebrew woman who is nursing to nurse the boy for you?” 8 “Go,” Pharaoh’s daughter told her. So the girl went and called the boy’s mother. 9 Then Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this child and nurse him for me, and I will pay your wages.” So the woman took the boy and nursed him. 10 When the child grew older, she brought him to Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. She named him Moses, “Because,” she said, “I drew him out of the water.”

“ Not My Child “

Jochebed
Moses mother makes up in her mind that her child is not going to end up like the other Israelite male boys
Moses was a great leader
Moses was a wonderful man
Moses lived to be 120 years old
He spent his life in 3 sections of 40 years
The first 40 years of his live
He spent them in the Palace
Thinking he was a somebody
The second 40 years of his life
He spent them in the desert
Feeling like a nobody
But the last 40 years of his life
He spent them as a prophet
Realizing that God can use anybody
Moses was the litigated for Israel
Moses was the legislator for Israel
Moses was the liberator for Israel
When God needed a liberator
He sent Moses to Pharaoh
To tell Pharaoh to let my people go
When the people needed the law
Moses was the legislator
He was the one that came down from Mount Sinai
With the ten commandments
When the people need a litigator
Somebody to talk to God on their behalf
And to talk to the people on God’s behalf
Moses was the middle man
Moses had a blessed beginning
Moses was no ordinary child
There was something
Different about him
Even from his existence
There was something
Purposeful about his existence
There was something
Ordained about his birth
And when you study
The birth of Moses
You will discover
Two things about his birth

1st Moses was born in Due Time

It was due time because
God says to Abram in
Genesis 15:13 KJV 1900
13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;
Note: God tells Abram, that I’m going to deal with my people by allowing them to go into 400 years of captivity but God has a LEADER that’s going to lead my people out of 400 years of captivity by the name of Moses.
But God let him know
That I was going
To turn their captivity
That they would not
Be in captivity always
They would be there
Base on their Sins
Base on their Idolatry
Base on their decisions
Not to serve God
Whole hearty
But God
would not turn it around
until after 400 years
And what’s significant
About the birth of Moses
was that his birth
Signified & Signal that
That time was sure to come
His birth meant
That God was
A promise keeper
And God knows the right time to bless you
[ Moses Birth/Arrived in Due Time ]
Statement: Saints of God, God has not forgotten you [ Somebody Today ]
Statement: Saints of God, God has 5 seasons [Summer, Winter, Spring, Fall, & Due Season ]
His birth
not only signified & signal
It was Due Time
But his birth
Also signal that he was born in

1st: Moses was born in Due Time

2nd: Moses was born in Dangerous Times

He was born
In a time where in
Boys were being killed
Ex. 1:22
Exodus 1:22 CSB
22 Pharaoh then commanded all his people, “You must throw every son born to the Hebrews into the Nile, but let every daughter live.”
That was a dangerous
Time that Moses
Is born in
But Moses mother Jochebed’s
Makes up in her mind
That what is happening
To other male children
Won’t happen to my child
And whether you
Recognize this or not
Our children
Are still being thrown
Into the Nile [ The Nile River ]
I’m not talking
About a body of water
But there’s a Nile
Out there
There are Diseases—Distractions—Pedophiles — Gangs — Drugs — Homosexuality
Things that are designed to destroy our children [The Nile]
Make up your mind
As a parent
That I’m going to keep
my child from going
Into the Nile of this world
I know Times are different Now
When I was growing up
Punishment for us you couldn’t go outside
Punishment today is they go outside and the reward is stay in the house on your phone
Back then our parents just had to worry about us skipping school or getting in a fight
Now today the big problem is our kids gravitating to technology [ The Internet ]
Check your child phone they don’t have NO BUSINESS
Moses mother Jochebed’s
makes a conscious decision
To safe guard her child

“ Not My Child

1st: She Carried & keep her child (v.2)

Exodus 2:2 CSB
2 The woman became pregnant and gave birth to a son; when she saw that he was beautiful, she hid him for three months.
She has an option
Because she recognizes
The decree of Pharaoh
She knows what the
Law says [Every male child]
The decision is
Do I follow the Law
Or do I trust the Lord
Do I follow the System
Or do I follow the Sovereign

“ Not My Child “

1st: She made a difficult decision [Husband is working ]

2nd: She made a defiant decision [She puts her family in danger]

Somebody needs to
Thank God for their mother
Who decided to
Carry & keep you
And all your siblings
[ Difficult Times & Abortion uprise ]

“ Not My Child “

1st: She Carried & keep her child (v.2)

2nd: She Covered her child ( V.3 )

Exodus 2:3–4 CSB
3 But when she could no longer hide him, she got a papyrus basket for him and coated it with asphalt and pitch. She placed the child in it and set it among the reeds by the bank of the Nile. 4 Then his sister stood at a distance in order to see what would happen to him.
This mother covered
Her child
This mother
Took it upon herself
To hide her child
Look at the context
of the text
Pharaoh is searching
For Israelite male boys
He’s trying to kill
Every Israelite male boy
That’s born during
Moses time
But this mother said
you can’t have this one
I’m going to cover
my child
Look at the symbolism in this
She covered her child
For 3 months
Suggesting that she don’t
want her child to be exposed
To, to much too soon
One of the problems
we have today is
we expose our kids
to too much too soon
where they bypass
Being children
Because we got children
Acting like adults
And playing in adult roles
And got adults
Acting like children
[ Look at our school system today ]
Is there any old school mothers
That will stand up
And say
You will stay in a child’s place
Exposing Children to
Too much too soon
And seeing to much
Is not the children fault — It’s the Parent
Exposing daughters to dress like grown women
The Mothers dressing like young girls
The daughter wears it to tight
The sons wear it to big
There’s an appropriate age for
Makeup—Nails—Hair—Clothes
Note: This is what you’re saying (times) have change and you’re right but your morals shouldn’t change.
Note: you got to cover your child
Note: you are advertising your child for pedophiles
COVER YOUR CHILDREN
Statement: Times have change parents don’t send their children out the room no more when adults are talking.
Statement: Times have change the grown folks talking like children & the children talking like grown folks.
Moses didn’t see everything
Because
His mother had him covered
Statement: Single mother’s there’s some stuff you should hide from your child. Stop bringing all these Uncles around your child every other month.

1st: She Carried & keep her child ( V. 2 )

2nd: She Covered her child ( V. 3-4 )

3rd: She Committed her child ( V. 3 )

Exodus 2:5–10 CSB
Moses mother said
As if
This situation is too much
For her
And I have to turn
This child over to the Lord
Note: Imagine this scene: Moses floats down the dangerous Nile! God sovereignly cares for this little boy. God keeps Moses from crocodiles, starvation, and drowning.
she makes the basket
water proof
to where she is giving
the child
the best possibility to survive
Note: Once you do your part trust God to do His part
Verses 4-9
1st: Moses survived thru what was design to kill him [The Nile]
2nd: Moses was crying
We don’t have enough children crying for their mother
